Ive never understood why some people are so intimidated to work on exotics. Im a master BMW tech but im restoring a 1998 Lamborghini diablo for my buddies dad and i gotta tell ya, my b5 rs4 was WAY WAY WAY worse. I mean, its no BRZ but, its just nuts and bolts. No im not LS swapping the diablo. Im rebuilding it with the best of the best carillo components and having the block and heads prepped by the best machine shop in the land. Precision sheetmetal in LV. They do almost all exotic owners in Nevada block and head prep. Bearing installs, porting and polishing ect. Then im installing a a haltech elite 2500 management system, twin garret 6076, meth injection, its gonna be a corn burner, ive made a replica engine bay and engine in my shop and im balls deep in the stainless equal length, rotary fire manifolds. Apparently he found a company that can remanufacture all the removable panels out of carbon fiber so itll have carbon doors, engine cover, fenders, and wing. We are widening the front by 1 inch on both sides and the rear will just get clearanced for how low the car will be and how aggressive the offset and size of wheel were running. Ive designed some chassis stiffening braces because these cars are SOFT when you push them and this car will be pushed extremely hard. So basically im restoring the vehicle, then building a race car to, fingers crossed, turn some heads in time attack. Ill be driving the car since, well, im a goddamn phsycopathic surgeon behind the wheel of a car and have my 8.50 NHRA cert, and racing license plus ive been drifting and racing dirt oval since i was 16. Im 33 now. Wish me luck!

I always liked this era Ferraris, and the 86 Fiero GT. Looked like a poor man's Ferrari. Actually had a friend around 1997 that had a Fierrari kit car. It was done well, even had Ferrari badges on the body and wheels...until you saw the interior and realized it was mid-80s GM. Would love to find a crappy Fiero and body kit and do an ls swap.

I do love that sound, and there are only three exhaust sounds, two of which are from my memories, that I like better than the Capristo exhaust on your Ferrari, though it does sound very impressive to me for certain. Number one has to be the quad exhaust from my CL 55 AMG. It's downright inspiring in the little, tiny rural community where the wife and I live. Sure, there are kids who live here with Mustangs, Camaros and Challengers, but the CL 55 AMG has a more throaty sound and when I let the supercharger really get wound up, it sounds like a proper race car. Well, at least it does to me. Number two, for me, has got to be the exhaust note from the 1973 Alfa Romeo Montreal that I was given to drive around the Los Angeles area when I was a hot tennis player prospect as a teenager. “The guy” who let me drive the car came from a famous acting family dating back to the silent era of film and wanted to be my sports agent. Back to the 1973 Alfa Romeo Montreal. The sound of that car was extraordinary, particularly when you downshifted from 3rd to 2nd gear and laid on the loud pedal. I got a real treat the 4th night I was staying at “the guy’s” family’s house, which was next door to an actor named Roy Thinnes, who had starred in a TV show back in the 1960s called “The Invaders.” The reason for the thrill was because I took the Montreal out onto Mulholland Drive. Hearing that exhaust note as it bounced off the walls of the hills and into the canyons was really inspiring to a young Army brat in southern California for the 1st time. I’m just glad I was too afraid of damaging the car to do anything really stupid because quite a few street racer types lost their lives on Mulholland Drive back then. Number three was the sound of the exhaust of my Honda 400-4 café racer with a Kirker 4 into 1 header with the baffles removed. My bike had been bored out and had hotter carbs than most of the Honda CB400 bikes of the time and by the time that the tuner had returned the bike to me it redlined at 12,000 rpms, if I recall correctly and when you were really cranking on the throttle with the baffles out of it, it sounded like a proper Italian racing car to my young ears at the time.
